  • Behind every website is a person or two who keeps it running.  Sometimes life gets in the way of updating the website, but Clyde’s commitment to a good, current website remains.

  • The pool is open, kids are playing ball, and the children’s library program is well underway.  Work has begun on the “Bring Reading 2 Life” mural at the library.  See Activities.

  • May brought graduations, Memorial Day ceremonies, and alumni reunions for the classes of 1944, 1949, 1954, and 1984.  Ten students competed at the state track meet in Wichita, and 7 brought home medals.  See Schools.

  • At the School Apartments, windows are being restored and storm windows added.  Crews are installing the sheetrock ceilings and completing the electrical work.  Though recession-driven financing issues have delayed work some, the project is scheduled for completion by late summer or early fall. Renter Information and Application Form.

  • The school district faces tough decisions about reduced funding with the recession.  Also, the art and music instructors have resigned.  See School

  • George Motor Company received notice that its Chrysler dealership contract is being cancelled despite it being a profitable 5-star dealership.  Jim and Mike plan to continue selling late model cars and trucks and servicing domestic vehicles.  See Business News.

  • The Diocese of Salina issued a decree on May 13th that St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is “relegated to secular use” and can no longer be used for weddings and funerals.

  • The Clyde Chamber of Commerce launched a Farmers Markets on Fridays from 5-6:30 p.m. on the east side of the Randolph-Decker Library.  All buyers and sellers are welcome.  The Local Food Guide for north central Kansas, published by the economic development programs of Clyde and Republic County, is available on the web at www.buyfreshnck.com/.

  • The Clyde Beautification Committee is sponsoring “110 pots for the 110th Watermelon Festival”.  The committee placed 30 flowerpots downtown, and scores of businesses and homes have set out their own.  The town is looking good!

  • We continue to highlight podcasts made by the FBLA high school business organization over the past year.  This month we feature a reminiscence of the 2008 Graduation and an introduction to the CCCC Wind Program.
